In my last newsletter, I shared all the different reasons why you shouldn't wait until the new year to get started on your goals with a lot of great insights on why small steps = big progress.
Today, I am going to take a little bit of a different turn and highlight why sometimes waiting (aka procrastination) can be good for you (reward!).
- It can help you gather thoughts and energy. If you have a deadline for a task that you don't want to do, procrastination allows you to avoid it for a little while longer which can be helpful if you need some time to gather your thoughts or your energy.
- It can lead to creative solutions. When you put off a task until the last minute, you're more likely to come up with an interesting and creative solution. This is because you're not bogged down by all the details. Uou have one thing in mind, meeting the deadline so the “how” is where you get creative!
- It can help you prioritize. When the clock is ticking, you'll be forced to decide which tasks are most important and need to be done first.
However, we all know that if you put off a task too long, you may not have enough time to complete it properly. This can lead to actually missing a great opportunity plus the stress, anxiety, and poor performance (risk!).
